Scouter Mobility Oy is a Finnish company that focuses on the design and manufacture of light vehicles. The four-wheel Scouter is the first electric L-class vehicle in Finland and the first L1e-A-class vehicle in Europe to receive EU type approval.
Scouter is designed to allow emission-free short-range commuting with both goods and a passenger. The vehicle has two adjoining seats and a large boot. Scouter can be driven on cycle ways and its user does not require a driver’s license. Scouter has been a Finnish innovation from the very beginning and its manufacture will also be based in Finland. Zero-emissions, safety and fun are key features of Scouter.
“Now something unique has been done that no one has done before,” rejoices Petri Pitkänen, founder and CEO of Scouter Mobility Oy. “Our goal has been to create a mobility solution that everyone can use. Scouter’s climate impact is easy to understand when short trips with goods and a friend can be done with Scouter instead of in a car.”
Scouter has been in test use by various professional groups such as housekeepers and couriers. Within companies, Scouter has been used e.g. as a shared bike and individuals have utilised the bike for daily errands. The experience has been positive and Scouter has proven to be well suited for a variety of uses. The safety and fun of driving, as well as the large boot space have been highly valued.
Scouter is designed with a variety of shared destinations in mind, such as cities, campuses, ports, airports, resorts, businesses and condominiums. As a distinctive and environmentally friendly product that stands out from the urban scene, it provides advertisers with a platform to promote their own brand.
Pre-production of Scouter vehicles is underway and the serial production will start in the autumn of 2021. “Scouters have been ordered by both companies and consumers, and public shared use is being prepared together with cities,” says Pitkänen.
In the future, the company’s target is clearly in the international market. Scouter has sparked interest around the world. Queries have come in from South America to North America and from Australia to Europe.
